RRK9 Intake Process
At Redemption Road K9, the health, safety, and welfare of our dogs and handlers are paramount. Attendance requires proof of current vaccinations and a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. All participants must complete our Responsibility Pledge and Liability Waiver prior to participation, and we verify identities and credentials for handlers during registration. While working on site, both handler and dog are covered by program insurance. For quality assurance and team development, all sessions are recorded and retained for internal K9 team review.
Vaccination Requirements
Puppy Classes
-
Puppies must be age‑appropriate vaccinated and have received at least their first DHLPP (DHPP/DHLPP) series (typically at 6–8 weeks).
-
Bordetella and Leptospirosis vaccinations are required.
-
Following AVSAB guidance, puppies may begin supervised socialization classes as early as 7–8 weeks with one vaccine set and a recent deworming—always follow your veterinarian’s recommendation.
-
Proof required: current vaccination record and deworming note from a licensed veterinarian.
Adult Dogs (Non‑Puppy Classes)
-
Required vaccinations and preventative care:
-
Rabies (current per local law)
-
DHPP/DHLPP (current booster per your vet’s schedule)
-
Bordetella (current; recommended annually or per clinic guidance)
-
Leptospirosis (current, if recommended by your veterinarian or regionally prevalent)
-
Up‑to‑date parasite prevention (heartworm, flea/tick) and evidence of recent deworming as appropriate
-
-
Health certification: A current health certificate or vaccination record from a licensed veterinarian is required for enrollment. Records must show vaccine dates and veterinarian contact information.
-
Special cases: For rescued or shelter dogs with incomplete records, a veterinarian’s written assessment and a vaccination plan are required prior to participation.
-
Exceptions & alternatives: In limited cases where core immunity can be demonstrated via documented titers, we will review veterinary documentation on an individual basis.
-
Proof & verification: All documentation must be submitted prior to the dog’s first session; staff will verify records and may refuse participation for health or safety concerns.

General
-
If a dog shows signs of illness, it will be denied entry and may return only after veterinary clearance.
-
These requirements protect all participants—dogs and humans—and support a safe, productive training environment. If you have questions, contact our team or your veterinarian for guidance.

RRK9 Weekend Operations Policy
Friday Sundown to Saturday Sundown
Purpose
RRK9 suspends routine business operations from Friday sundown through Saturday sundown so company leadership may observe a weekly day of rest, while trained on‑site staff provide uninterrupted, professional care for every dog in our care.
Scope
This policy applies to all RRK9 employees, contractors, volunteers, and clients. It governs animal care, staffing and authority, scheduling and payments, emergency response, communications, legal/compliance responsibilities, and recordkeeping during the weekend coverage period.
Weekend Coverage & Authority
- On‑duty Manager (primary authority): Operations Manager (on‑site decision maker during the weekend).
- On‑site Support: Animal Care Assistant (implements care, documents actions, reports to the manager).
- Owners and Leadership: fully recused from operational direction during the weekend; all necessary instructions and approvals must be issued by Friday at 3:00PM.
- Backup chain: a designated backup staff member is authorized to assume manager duties if the primary is unavailable; backup contact info is maintained in the personnel roster.
Services Maintained (Continuous)
- Feeding, fresh water, enrichment, exercise, and kennel sanitation.
- Health/safety monitoring, routine checks, and on‑site first aid.
- Emergency stabilization and immediate transport to licensed 24‑hour veterinary facilities when clinically required.
Services Paused Until After Saturday Sundown
- Training sessions, lessons, and evaluations.
- New scheduling, client agreements, and changes to service scope.
- Billing, payment processing, and routine administrative transactions.
- Non‑urgent communications (routine calls, emails, texts, social media).
Scheduling & Payments
- Clients should schedule and pre‑authorize services and payments before Friday at noon whenever possible.
- Preferred billing model: subscription or flat‑rate arrangements to minimize transactional needs during the weekend.
- Emergency excess charges (beyond pre‑authorized coverage) are documented and invoiced on the next business day with itemized receipts.
Emergency Protocol & Contacts
- Emergency number: clients must use the published RRK9 emergency line for any immediate life/safety issue.
- Triage: On‑duty Manager evaluates remotely/onsite and directs stabilization, transport, or veterinary intervention as necessary.
- Client notification: owners are contacted immediately for any situation requiring veterinary care or transport; if unreachable, RRK9 contacts the authorized emergency contact on file.
- Consent: clients sign an Emergency Care Authorization at intake permitting RRK9 to provide or arrange urgent veterinary care if the owner cannot be reached. RRK9 attempts continuous outreach until care is provided.
Communications & Public Messaging
- Routine communications are deferred until after Saturday sundown.
- Emergency updates to owners happen immediately; public social media and non‑critical messaging remain dormant except for urgent public safety notices.
Legal, Insurance & Compliance
- Veterinary transport and care are coordinated with licensed 24‑hour clinics in compliance with local laws.
- RRK9 maintains appropriate commercial general and professional liability insurance.
- Service agreements include emergency authorization and explicit acknowledgment of the weekend operations policy.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
- All weekend actions are logged in the incident system within 24 hours by the on‑duty manager. Required entries include: date/time, staff involved, observed condition, interventions, medications (name/dose/route/time), transport details, receiving clinic and clinician, client notifications, and invoices/receipts.
- Records retained for a minimum of seven years; available to authorized clients and regulators on request.
Staff Training & Preparedness
- Weekend staff complete annual emergency procedures training and periodic drills (first aid, stabilization, transport, documentation).
- Pre‑weekend checklist: leadership finalizes schedules, medical authorizations, and special instructions before Friday sundown; on‑duty staff verify supplies and readiness.
Drop‑off / Pick‑up Policy
- Arrange drop‑offs and pick‑ups before Friday at noon or after Saturday sundown. Exceptions require prior written approval and documented operational sign‑off.
Client Responsibilities
- Provide accurate emergency contact information and sign Emergency Care Authorization at intake.
- Disclose medical conditions, medications, and any special care instructions before Friday noon.
- Pre‑authorize emergency treatment levels if desired (stabilize only / stabilize & transport / full treatment).
Quality Assurance & Review
- Incident review: management reviews all emergency incidents within 72 hours and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Quarterly audit: weekend logs, training records, and insurance claims are audited and reported to leadership.
Why this matters
- Protects animal welfare by ensuring continuous, professional care.
- Provides predictable operational authority and documentation during the weekend.
- Respects leadership’s weekly day of rest while preserving client trust and regulatory compliance.
Questions & Contacts
- For scheduling, billing, or policy questions: contact the office before Friday at noon.
- For weekend emergencies: use the RRK9 emergency number provided at intake.
Approved by RRK9 Leadership.
